Lamine Yamal expects Lionel Messi to lead Argentina to Copa America 2024 and Spain to Euro 2024 to face off in 2025
Seventeen-year-old forward Lamine Yamal is hoping to lead Spain to Euro 2024 glory. And is rooting for Lionel Messi’s Argentina to win the 2024 Copa America to set up a showdown at the 2025 Finalissima.
Yamal’s Spain will play England in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday. While Messi’s Argentina will face Colombia in the 2024 Copa America final on the same day.

‘I hope Messi wins the Copa America and I win Euro 2024 so I can play against him in the Finalissima’. Yamal said.
The Finalissima will be a meeting between the European champions and the South American champions, the last time being in 2022 when Argentina beat Italy at Wembley Stadium with a score of 3-0.
Yamal also said of facing England on Sunday: ‘How to beat England? Play like we are playing. Like we did against Germany and France, we are in possession and in control of the game.’
‘I think we are the best at that and nobody can stop us if we do it. We are doing very well. At the end of the day, it is important to put intensity into it. Without it, you cannot win a European Championship final.’
‘We’ll see what happens on Sunday. The dream is over. There’s more competition from England. Everyone wants to play in that game. Now all we want is to bring the trophy back to Spain.’
